You might be thinking…what the heck is alkaline mean? Well it is pretty simple. All you really need to know is an alkaline body protects you from disease such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease. An acidic body attracts these things. An acidic diet contains a lot of processed foods, high in sugar, high in saturated fat, inflammatory food such as dairy, gluten, etc.

An alkaline diet consists of more collard greens, heavy vegetable-based diet, very low in sugar, caffeine and alcohol. And if you don’t care about disease, also know that an alkaline body is more likely to maintain a healthy weight than an acidic body, so if you have issues with lasting weight loss, you may want to access the acidity of your current diet.

Incorporating lemons daily will help you on your way to an alkaline body. Will it solve everything, no, but drinking room temperature, lemon water first thing in the morning will allow your organs to start in the right direction at the start of your day. So maybe switch that coffee for lemon water…say what…give up my morning coffee. Well maybe exchange it once a week to start and see how it goes.

Lemons are also high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. Oh the dreaded talk of bowels. Well here it is, lemons increase peristalsis in the bowels, which helps to create a bowel movement, which helps eliminate waste and keeps you regular. If you aren’t pooping daily, that definitely indicates an issue and could definitely contribute to high cholesterol.

Finally, vitamin C in lemons helps to neutralize free radicals linked to aging and most types of disease. So, add a lemon a day to your diet to help you in the direction of your goals.
